Today was another glorious day, blue skies, shining sun, perfect riding weather. I set out over Cock Hill, past the ‘On Yer Bike’ sign near Oxenhope, through Stanbury over the tops and into Trawden.
As I was climbing pout of the village I remembered that I actually hadn’t stopped at a café on a solo ride for probably 9 months. Training takes its toll on the fun stuff so today I decided to make a change.
Round the corner at Coldwell I turned into the Recreation Centre, somewhere I’d stopped, soaking wet, on an Audax years ago. Pot of tea, a slice of date & walnut cake and a seat outside in the sunshine, who could ask for more? A timely reminder of how important the cycling café stop is, good for body and mind!
There was just the matter of that hill over Widdup and I was soon home.
