You may think todays ride was a rather indulgent jolly on a school day? However believe it or not it’s work! I’m working for a company called Rapha on a couple of projects over the summer. One of my tasks is to create the route and GPX file for their Manchester to London challenge ride which is being held on the 7th of September. It’s a charity ride to raise both money and awareness for Ambitious about Autism.
Now I know that the ride will be amazing, only however after every mile has been recce’d to make sure it’s all ok and the most interesting that I can find. I want to weave in some of the classic routes as it wide its way down the country. Where I can I’m adding as many little quirks as I can.
One thing I’m keen to include is the Monsal Trail in the Peak District. It’s an old railway line now turned over as a cycleway. It has tunnels and the old stations are there too. So I rode down for a recce. It’s amazing, well worth a visit.
However to recce 40 miles of the route I seem to have done a 130 mile round trip……Ah it’s all good.
