Emma decides it’s time for a gravel racer – Day 2

Now there’s not hiding from the fact that I am something of a cycling obsessive, I’m lucky enough to be sponsored by Kinesis UK bikes and Morvelo clothing. Perfect, lovely bikes, lovely clothes, indulge myself in the latest trends…..

….what do you mean you don’t know what a gravel racer is?! Well, it’s neither a cyclocross bike nor a road bike, nobody has every really nailed it but we all think we want one. Maybe it’s just an excuse for another bike? Or for a tinkerer like myself it’s time to take some bikes apart and put them back together in a different way. Hopefully without having a disaster and having to go running into Blazing Saddles in Hebden Bridge for them to roll their eyes at me.

I’ve been sent some big fat 28mm Vredestein Xtreme tyres to play with, only decision left is to decide which bike to play gravel racer with? I’m off exploring on Friday so I decided to put them on to my Kinesis ATR Tripster bike. It’s a disk braked adventuring bike, perfect for Fridays rough adventure, yet speedy enough to go on the road too. A quick test ride round Heights Road (no views, too soggy today) and back on the freshly surfaced Route 66 golden gravel, I was pleasantly surprised.photo-20

And then just so you don’t think I’m taking myself too seriously I nipped to the COOP in Hebden Bridge and used the handy wine bottle holder you’ll find on many bikes 😉photo-21
